FARMERS MARKET SW FINDS NEW HOME at THE WHARF'S  M STREET LANDING
ensuring continued access to fresh, local food

Farmers Market SW will reopen at The Wharf this spring, securing a new long-term home just two blocks away at M Street Landing following a successful ten-year residency at 4th and M Street SW. The market is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, April 4, and will continue to operate weekly on Saturdays through November from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The relocation was made possible through a partnership between The Wharf and Diverse Market Management, who worked together to ensure the market remains in Southwest and continues serving residents with access to fresh, locally sourced food.

Located in the plaza at M Street Landing outside of Pitango, Philippe Chow and The Fish Shop, the new site provides an accessible setting that allows the market to continue its important role in supporting regional farmers and strengthening community food access.
Long running favorite vendors and farmers have been invited to participate at the new location, and applications will soon open for additional vendors. The market will continue to accept SNAP/EBT benefits and participate in the Produce Plus program, helping ensure fresh food remains accessible to all members of the community.

Farmers Market SW has long served as a cornerstone of neighborhood life, connecting residents and visitors with local growers and producers while creating community connections. Its reopening at The Wharf marks an important step in preserving this tradition and ensuring its continued success.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Market to The Wharf and look forward to seeing our friends and neighbors on Saturday mornings. The Market is a key component of the community, and we are committed to ensuring its success at its new home at The Wharf.”

Farmers Market SW is now accepting applications from quality food and farm businesses for the weekly Saturday market in SW DC. Opening April 4 and running every Saturday from 9AM to 1PM through November 21, the market offers baked goods, coffee, jams/jellies, prepared foods, pasture-raised meats & eggs, and locally grown fresh produce.

Now entering its new market season, the market attracts hundreds of weekly shoppers from the surrounding community and also features live music and more. The rapidly growing the Wharf area is adding critical density -- and the market is poised to grow significantly with new resources and new partnerships.

It's a nice neighborhood market that attracts families, young professionals and home-owning seniors in the area. The market also goes above and beyond to offer support to low-income shoppers through various voucher programs and a match for spending of federal nutrition assistance monies.
