Art Whino presents: LIVE PAINTING BY TWO RENOWNED MURALISTS, MAS PAZ AND JUNCTION XXI.

MasPaz (Federico Frum) was born in Bogota, Colombia, adopted  by an American family, and raised in Washington, DC. In his home, his mother hung Colombian tapestries. Their bold lines and vibrant shapes fascinated him. They give him a closer understanding to his Colombian roots and ancestors. His Latin American heritage plays a huge role in his art today.  Graffiti taught MasPaz the power of typography and color. With words he could convey a message. Why not a positive message? The message Mas Paz, meaning More Peace, clicked. MasPaz travels internationally spreading his message of peace to countries such as Brazil, Australia, Bolivia, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, and Jamaica. He has exhibited in numerous galleries and shows in NYC and Washington, DC.

Involved in the street art scene at an early age, Bryan XXI has strived to consistently deliver quality works in the multiple facets of his artistic expression throughout his career. He began his art endeavors in 1992 in Frankfurt, Germany. After moving to the Washington D.C. Metro area in 1997, his work evolved to new heights, partnering with other local artists to produce large-scale murals and other commission works in the area, and throughout the East CoastHe has become recognized as one of the area’s premier graffiti artists.

AS AN ADDITIONAL DRAW, LIVE-MUSIC WILL BE FEATURED ON THE STAGE:

John Lewis ElectroKoustic duo will perform from 4-6:30pm. John G. Lewis performs in the Washington, DC Metro Area. His repertoire includes Jazz, R&B, an eclectic mix of great old Bossa Nova, and songs in English, Portuguese and French.

The resulting sound is simply Jazzy-Souful-Cool. Electrokoustic is a contrived alternative rendering of the term electro-acoustic, which loosely defined is a genre of music that attempts to push musical instruments beyond their normal limitations.

Ian Walters & Friends will rock the house from 7-9:30pm.
Ian B. Walters plays spirited, updated blues and standards as well as contemporary tunes. Known for his unique piano sound, dripping with soul vocals, and all-around good vibes, Ian's inventive interpretations of great old songs make them new again.

FICADC WILL PERFORM & TEACH LIVE CAPOEIRA ANGOLA:

Capoeira Angola is an Afro- Brazilian martial art that combines acrobatics, fighting, music, history and philosophy. Enslaved Africans brought the movements of Capoeira Angola to Brazil, disguising the martial elements of Capoeira Angola by adding music and singing.

After the abolition of slavery, Capoeira Angola continued to develop as an instrument of freedom and resistance. Today, Capoeira Angola groups flourish across Brazil and around the world.
