DC'S FIRST NIGHT MARKET TO RESUME IN SOUTHWEST
A DJ party with an eclectic evening of Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, and Downtempo vibrations will be featured as the monthly  MarketSW, returns to kick off its second season 5 to 10 pm Friday, May 27 at Waterfront Station's "The Lot" at 4th & M Streets, SW.

"We need to credit our associate Brady Rall for booking guest DJs: both Jason Berto from Grand Ancestor and  Computa Age and David Fogel, curator of Forward DC, of Bump 'n Grind in Silver Spring;" said Michael Berman, President of Diverse Markets Management (DMM) which is collaborating with the Southwest Business Improvement District (SWBID) to present "a festive event every fourth Friday through October." The event-long vinyl concert has been headlined "Computa Age meets Bump'n Grind" by Rall.

Food trucks participating will be Nom Nom Gourmet, a Southeast Asian specialist, Federal City Bros, featuring brats and sausages, and DC Crab Cake n Co , which will also bring BBQ biscuit along with crab creations. The trucks will be joined by desert specialist  The Capital Candy Jar, which will create giant S'mores on site.

Additional gustatory sensations will also be available with "an enhanced outdoor bar again presented by Sugar Rim Bar," promised Berman.  As well, Cuban master cigar roller Arian Castaneda will also return.
Among the 20+ small businesses exhibiting at the market will be several popular returnees among an eclectic mix of crafts persons, artists, furniture designers, jewelers and importers from all over the world. See the entire array of activities and exhibitors here!

"We strive for an internationally-connected and eclectic merchandise mix in all our markets," said Berman, "and these exhibitors should fit into this festive setting well." Many are also exhibitors at DMM-managed markets: The Flea Market at Eastern Market, every Sunday at 7th St. & Pennsylvania Ave. SE on Capitol Hill; and Sparket, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays through June in Crystal City, Arlington, VA, and The Downtown Holiday Market, for which "we expect to soon announce a 'Black Friday', November 25, 2016, kick off in downtown DC.".

MarketSW is supported by Vornado/Charles E. Smith and Forest City Washington. Berman singled out Gordon Fraley, Vice President Development for Vornado/Charles E. Smith, "for enabling MarketSW" and Senior Property Manager Todd Anderson, "for essential logistical support," which includes pending construction of a stage canopy and expanded electrical service for the night market.
